About the Hamilton Art Gallery
Established in 1961, Hamilton Art Gallery is one of regional Victoria's most significant and celebrated art museums. Respected within the national arts community and beloved by locals and tourists, the gallery houses a remarkable permanent collection spanning centuries and continents, alongside a dynamic program of touring and temporary exhibitions.
The gallery is internationally renowned for its extraordinary lace and textile collection, widely regarded as one of the finest collections of European lace outside of Europe itself. This unique holding includes antique pieces of extraordinary delicacy and craftsmanship dating from the 16th century through to the modern era and draws specialist visitors from around the world.
Beyond the lace collection, the gallery features Australian paintings, sculpture, decorative arts and a thoughtfully curated collection of furniture and ceramics. The gallery's café provides a lovely retreat, and the gallery shop offers art books, prints and locally made gifts. Admission to the permanent collection is free, with selected special exhibitions requiring a ticket.

Getting There
From Lake Hamilton Motor Village, head east along Ballarat Road and into the Hamilton CBD. The gallery is located on Brown Street in the town centre and is clearly signposted. Street parking is available directly outside, and the gallery is an easy 15-minute walk from the park through Hamilton's pleasant town centre.
